The Carbon Control Software Client Energy Usage Monitor resides as a Windows-based service on user desktop machines, with the ability to record:
- System active time & active energy usage
- System non-active time & non-active energy usage
- System power saving time & power saving energy usage
The data recorded by the service is stored on either a local or remote database, which associates energy usage data to both users and computer systems.

The service enforces energy saving policies on the user's machine based on the policy which it has adopted, either by default or that which has been specified by the System Administrator via the Administration Tool.
The enforcement of an energy saving policy may result in:
- Setting the client system to standby
- Setting the client system to hibernation
- Setting the client system to shutdown
Again the enforcement is either based upon a default setting or the setting which has been specified by the System Administrator. |
